( 1 ) Palampur is well-connected with neighboring villages and towns.

  • Palampur is Located in Uttar Pradesh western part.
  • Raiganj is the nearest village that is 3 km away from Palampur and further Shahpur is a small town.
  • Palampur has about 450 Families. The 80 Upper caste family owns the majority of the land. The SC ( Dalits ) Comprise one-third of the population and live in one corner of the village.
  • The houses of upper cate families are made up of bricks with cement plastering. Houses of SCs are of Mud and Straw.
  • Palampur has two Primary Schools and one High School.
  • There is a Primary Health Centre run by the government and one private dispensary.
  • Farming is the main production activity of the village Palampur.

( 2 ) Organisation of Production

>> The aim of production is to produce the goods and services that we want. There are four Requirements for production.

  1. Land – The first requirement is land and other natural resources like water, forests, minerals.
  2. Labour – The second requirement is labour means people that will do the work.
  3. Physical Capital – The third requirement is Physical capital in two ways. 1. Tools, machines and Buildings called fixed capital. 2. Raw material and money in hand called working capital.
  4. Human Capital – The fourth requirement is human capital. People that will mange land, labour, and physical capital.

( 3 ) Farming in Palampur

  • Land in the village Palampur is fixed. Farming is the main production activity. 75% of People in Palampur depend on farming.
  • Famers grow Wheat, bajra, sugarcane and potato mainly in Palampur.
  • There are electric run Tubewell. The first few tubewells were installed by the Government.
  • Farmers of the Palampur grow Multiple Cropping. To grow more than one crop on a piece of land during the year is known as multiple cropping.
  • Now Farmers of Palampur uses Higher Yield Variety ( HYV ) seeds. These seeds were developed during Green Revolution in india.
  • HYV Seeds require more irrigation, fertilisers and pesticides.
  • After the use of HYV Seeds Production increases from 1300kg to 3200kg in one hectare.
  • HYV seeds decreasing soil fertility day by day.
  • 150 families have no land for farming. 240 Families cultivate land less than 2 hectares. 60 Families have medium and large area of land larger than 2 Hectare.
  • People of 150 families that have no land works as Labour.
  • Big farmers grow crop in surplus and then sell surplus amount in the nearby market. Then This money is used for next year Preparation.

( 4 ) Non-Farming Activities in Palampur

  • Some people of Palampur open Dairy and sell milk of buffalo to nearby areas.
  • Some families are engaged in small scale Manufacturing in Village Palampur.
  • Some People open Shops and sell products in Palampur. 
  • Some People working in the transport sector like Rikshawallah, tongawallah, jeep driver, truck driver, tractor driver for transport.
