Ans. The books we read today are written and printed whereas the Rigveda was recited and heard rather than read. Secondly, today’s books are printed on papers whereas Rigveda is a manuscript on the specially prepared bark of birch tree.
Q.4. What kind of evidence from burials do archaeologists use to find out whether there were social differences amongst those who were buried ?
Ans. Archaeologists find some objects with skeletons but the number of objects varies in different cases. For example, a grave found in Brahmagiri contained 33 gold beads, 2 stone beads, 4 copper
bangles and one conch shell with one skeleton. On the other hand some skeletons have only a few articles. These findings suggest that there were some social differences among those who were buried.
Q.5. In what ways do you think that the life of a raja was different from that of a dasa or dasi ?
Life of rajas
1. Arja was generally a brave and skilful warrior who took part in the wars as leader,

- Dasas or dasies were generally captured in wars.
- They did not perform sacrifices and spoke different languages.
- They were slaves and treated as the property of their owners, who could make them do whatever work they wanted.
