Explain any three internal and any three external sources of Recruitment.
Answer -In a broader classification, a third internal source is recall of temporarily laid-off employees when work becomes available; this means recall, not the act of laying workers off. Transfer moves an employee to another job or department at a comparable level, and promotion moves an employee to a higher position. Three external sources may be explained as advertisements inviting outside applications, employment exchanges matching registered job-seekers with vacancies, and campus recruitment selecting candidates from educational institutions.
Recruitment is the process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating them to apply. It is a positive process because it increases the pool of applicants; selection is comparatively eliminative because unsuitable applicants are screened out.
Internal sources: transfer and promotion. They use existing employees, reduce cost and support motivation, but limit fresh talent.
External sources: advertisements, direct recruitment, casual callers, employment exchanges, placement agencies, campus recruitment, employee recommendations, labour contractors and web publishing. They widen choice and introduce fresh skills, but take time and money.
The principal NCERT classification has transfer and promotion. The broader recall category above explains the third source requested by this question.
