1. Describe the feelings, emotions and behaviour of Mr. Hamel on the day of the last lesson. ( 5 marks)
पिछले पाठ के दिन मिस्टर हैमेल की अनुभति, भावनाओं और व्यवहार का वर्णन करें।
Ans. Mr. Hamel was a French teacher in a school of French district. The district has been captured by the Prussian Army. All the teachers was disallowed in these districts who taught French language. So on the last day of Mr. Hamel in the school, he was in in a pathetic state of mind. He knew that he has been transferred and would no longer remain in this school. But he gave his last lesson to the students with as much devotion and sincerity as normal days. Little Franz was late for school that day. He did not scold Franz for not preparing the rules of participles. Mr. Hamel opened a Grammar book and gave his last lesson lesson to the class. He only said that it is not good to put off learning. He looked at everything in Classroom. It have broken his heart to think that he was to leave it all.
मिस्टर हैमेल फ्रांसीसी जिले के एक स्कूल में फ्रांसीसी शिक्षक थे। जिले पर प्रशिया सेना ने कब्जा कर लिया है। इन जिलों में फ्रेंच भाषा पढ़ाने वाले सभी शिक्षकों की अनुमति नहीं थी। इसलिए स्कूल में मिस्टर हैमेल के अंतिम दिन, वह मन की दयनीय स्थिति में थे। वह जानता था कि उसका तबादला कर दिया गया है और वह अब इस स्कूल में नहीं रहेगा। लेकिन उन्होंने अपना आखिरी पाठ छात्रों को सामान्य दिनों की तरह उतनी ही निष्ठा और ईमानदारी से दिया। नन्हे फ्रांज को उस दिन स्कूल जाने में देर हो गई थी। उन्होंने फ्रांज को पार्टिसिपल के नियम तैयार नहीं करने के लिए नहीं डांटा। मिस्टर हैमेल ने एक व्याकरण की किताब खोली और कक्षा को अपना आखिरी पाठ पढ़ाया। उन्होंने केवल इतना कहा कि पढ़ाई को टालना अच्छा नहीं है। उसने कक्षा में सब कुछ देखा। यह सोचकर उसका दिल टूट गया है कि उसे यह सब छोडना पडेगा।
2. What dread did Little Franz have when he started for school in the morning ? ( 2 marks)
नन्हे फ्रांज जब सुबह स्कूल के लिए निकला तो उसे क्या डर था ?
Ans. Little Franz was late for the school that morning. He feared that the teacher would scold him. Also, the teacher was ask the rules of participles. But little Franz did not know a word about the rules of participles. He was in fear of punishment.
नन्हे फ्रांज उस सुबह स्कूल के लिए लेट हो गया था। उसे डर था कि शिक्षक उसे डांटेगा। साथ ही शिक्षक से पार्टिसिपल के नियम भी पुछेगा। लेकिन छोटे फ्रांज को पार्टिसिपल के नियमों के बारे में एक शब्द भी नहीं पता था। उसे सजा का डर था।
3. What did the blacksmith say to Franz ? ( 2 marks)
लोहार ने फ्रांज से क्या कहा?
Ans. Little Franz was late for school. He was going fast towards school. The blacksmith was standing in front of bulletin board. He said to little Franz,” Don’t go so fast, boy. You’ll get to the school in plenty of time.”
नन्हे फ्रांज को स्कूल जाने में देर हो गई थी। वह तेजी से स्कूल की ओर जा रहा था। लुहार बुलेटिन बोर्ड के सामने खड़ा था। उसने नन्हे फ्रांज से कहा, “इतनी जल्दी मत जाओ, लड़के। तुम बहुत समय में स्कूल पहुँच जाओगे।”
4. Reproduce in your own words what Little Franz did or thought on his way to school. (5 marks)
नन्हे फ्रांज ने स्कूल जाते समय क्या किया या क्या सोचा, इसे अपने शब्दों में दोहराएं।
Ans. Little Franz was late for school in the morning. Mr. Hamel, a French teacher gave him to remember the participles. Little Franz did not know a word about the participles. He thought of running away from school and spend the whole day out of school. He saw the Prussian soldiers drilling in an open field. it was a tempting sight. but he hurried off to school. He saw a big crowd in front of Bulletin Board. All the bad news are comes here. The blacksmith was standing in front of bulletin board. He said to little Franz,” Don’t go so fast, boy. You’ll get to the school in plenty of time.” He think that blacksmith is making fun with him. When he reached school, he was tired and out of breath.
नन्हे फ्रांज को सुबह स्कूल जाने में देर हो गई थी। श्रीमान हैमेल, एक फ्रांसीसी शिक्षक ने उन्हें पार्टिसिपल को याद करने के लिए दिया। नन्हे फ्रांज को पार्टिसिपल के बारे में एक शब्द भी नहीं पता था। उसने स्कूल से भाग जाने और पूरा दिन स्कूल के बाहर बिताने के बारे में सोचा। उसने प्रशिया के सैनिकों को खुले मैदान में ड्रिलिंग करते देखा। यह एक आकर्षक नजारा था। लेकिन वह जल्दी से स्कूल चला गया। उन्होंने बुलेटिन बोर्ड के सामने भारी भीड़ देखी। सभी बुरी खबरें यहां आती हैं। लुहार बुलेटिन बोर्ड के सामने खड़ा था। उसने नन्हे फ्रांज से कहा, “इतनी जल्दी मत जाओ, लड़के। तुम बहुत समय में स्कूल पहुँच जाओगे।” उसे लगता है कि लोहार उसका मजाक उड़ा रहा है। जब वह स्कूल पहुंचा, तो वह थका हुआ था और उसकी सांस फूल रही थी.
5. What impression do you form of M. Hamel on the basis of your study of the story “The Last Lesson”. ( 5 mark )

Ans. Mr. Hamel is a French language teacher. He is very strict teacher and can not tolerate any indiscipline in his class. His students and villagers respect him very much. He loves his Language and country. He was deeply shocked when an order come from Berlin that only German language will be taught in school of Alsace and Lorraine. Mr. Hamel has to leave the school. The new German language teacher is coming next day. Mr. Hamel Gave the last lesson to their student with Same behaviour like regular days.
मिस्टर हैमेल एक फ्रेंच भाषा के शिक्षक हैं। वह बहुत सख्त शिक्षक है और अपनी कक्षा में किसी भी अनुशासनहीनता को बर्दाश्त नहीं कर सकता। उनके छात्र और ग्रामीण उनका बहुत सम्मान करते हैं। उन्हें अपनी भाषा और देश से प्यार है। उन्हें गहरा धक्का लगा जब बर्लिन से एक आदेश आया कि अलसैस और लोरेन के स्कूल में केवल जर्मन भाषा ही पढ़ाई जाएगी। मिस्टर हैमेल को स्कूल छोड़ना है। अगले दिन जर्मन भाषा का नया शिक्षक आ रहा है। श्री हेमल ने अपने छात्र को नियमित दिनों की तरह समान व्यवहार के साथ अंतिम पाठ दिया।

Ans. That day it was all quite everywhere unlike other school days. Mr. M Hamel was dressed in is beautiful green coat. He didn’t get angry on little Franz for coming late in the class that day. The village peoples sitting at the back benches. Every came her for M Hamel service of forty years.
उस दिन स्कूल के अन्य दिनों से बिल्कुल अलग हर जगह शांति थी। मिस्टर एम हैमेल ने हरे रंग का सुंदर कोट पहना हुआ था। वह उस दिन कक्षा में देर से आने के लिए नन्हे फ्रांज पर नाराज़ नहीं हुआ। गांव के लोग पीछे की बेंच पर बैठे थे। हर कोई उसे चालीस साल की एम हैमेल सेवा के लिए आया था।
7. How does M. Hamel pay a tribute to the French language ? ( 2 marks)
एम. हैमेल फ्रेंच भाषा को किस प्रकार श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करते हैं ?
Ans. Mr. M Hamel pay a tribute to the French language by calling it the most beautiful language in the world. He wants that the French people keep this language alive and never forget it. In the end of his last lesson, he writes on the black board,” Vive La France” means Long Live France.
मिस्टर एम हैमेल ने फ्रेंच भाषा को दुनिया की सबसे खूबसूरत भाषा कहकर श्रद्धांजलि दी। वह चाहता है कि फ्रांसीसी लोग इस भाषा को जीवित रखें और इसे कभी न भूलें। अपने अंतिम पाठ के अंत में, वे ब्लैक बोर्ड पर लिखते हैं, “विवे ला फ्रांस” जिसका अर्थ है फ्रांस अमर रहे।
8. Write a character sketch of Franz. ( 5 marks )

Ans. Little Franz did not like study. When his school teacher try to teach him, then he can’t understand anything. One day morning little Franz was late for school. He didn’t want to go school because his school teacher Mr. Hamel gave him to revise the rules of participles and he didn’t know anything about the rules of participles. On the way of school, He was thinking that his teacher Mr. Hamel would scold him. When he reached the school and his teacher said,” My children, this is the last lesson I shall give you. The order has come from Berlin to teach only German language.” Then Franz becomes sad because he didn’t know his language. That day little Franz can understand every rules of the Grammar. Franz was also sad for his teacher who had to left this school after his forty years of service.
नन्हे फ्रांज को पढ़ाई पसंद नहीं थी। जब उनके स्कूल टीचर ने उन्हें पढ़ाने की कोशिश की तो उन्हें कुछ समझ नहीं आया। एक दिन सुबह नन्हा फ्रांज को स्कूल जाने में देर हो गई। वह स्कूल नहीं जाना चाहता था क्योंकि उसके स्कूल के शिक्षक मिस्टर हैमेल ने उसे पार्टिसिपल के नियमों को याद करने के लिए दिया था और वह पार्टिसिपल के नियमों के बारे में कुछ भी नहीं जानता था। स्कूल के रास्ते में, वह सोच रहा था कि उसके शिक्षक मिस्टर हैमेल उसे डांटेंगे। जब वह स्कूल पहुंचा और उसके शिक्षक ने कहा, “मेरे बच्चों, यह आखिरी सबक है जो मैं तुम्हें दूंगा। बर्लिन से केवल जर्मन भाषा सिखाने का आदेश आया है।” तब फ्रांज उदास हो जाता है क्योंकि वह अपनी भाषा नहीं जानता था। उस दिन नन्हा फ्रांज व्याकरण के हर नियम को समझ सकता है। फ्रांज अपने शिक्षक के लिए भी दुखी था जिसे अपनी चालीस साल की सेवा के बाद इस स्कूल को छोड़ना पड़ा था।
9. “What a thunderclap these words were to me!” Which were the words that shocked and surprised little Franz ? ( 2 marks)
“ये शब्द मेरे लिए क्या गड़गड़ाहट थे!” वे कौन से शब्द थे जिन्होंने नन्हे फ्रांज को चौंका दिया और आश्चर्यचकित कर दिया?
Ans. Mr. Hamel told the class that it would be his last lesson. Orders had come from Berlin in the School that Only German language will be taught in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine. The new teacher is coming the next day. These words came like a thunderclap to Franz.
मिस्टर हैमेल ने कक्षा को बताया कि यह उनका आखिरी पाठ होगा। स्कूल में बर्लिन से आदेश आया था कि अलसैस और लोरेन के स्कूलों में सिर्फ जर्मन भाषा ही पढ़ाई जाएगी। अगले दिन नया शिक्षक आ रहा है। ये शब्द फ्रांज के लिए एक गड़गड़ाहट की तरह थे।
10. Who did M. Hamel blame for the neglect of learning on the part of boys like Franz ? ( 2 marks)
फ्रांज जैसे लड़कों की ओर से सीखने की उपेक्षा के लिए एम. हैमेल ने किसे दोषी ठहराया?
Ans. Mr. Hamel blamed the parents of the boy like Franz, He said that they didn’t care about their studies. Mr. Hamel blamed himself also. He said ,” Have i Not often sent you to water my flowers instead of learning your lessons?”
मिस्टर हैमेल ने फ्रांज जैसे लड़के के माता-पिता को दोषी ठहराया, उन्होंने कहा कि उन्हें अपनी पढ़ाई की परवाह नहीं है। श्री हेमल ने खुद को भी दोषी ठहराया। उन्होंने कहा, “क्या मैंने आपको सबक सीखने के बजाय अक्सर अपने फूलों को पानी देने के लिए नहीं भेजा है?”
