Who was Anil ? How did he treat Hari Singh and how did it influence Hari's life ?

Answer – Anil was a young writer who earned money irregularly. He was kind, simple-hearted and trusting. Hari Singh met him with the intention of robbing him, but Anil allowed Hari to stay with him and treated him with affection. Anil gave Hari food and shelter and promised to teach him how to read, write and do simple arithmetic. He trusted Hari even though Hari sometimes cheated him while buying groceries. This kindness deeply influenced Hari Singh. When Hari stole six hundred rupees from Anil and ran away, he soon realized that Anil’s trust and the opportunity to become educated were more valuable than the stolen money. He returned and placed the money back under the mattress. Thus, Anil’s kindness, trust and willingness to educate Hari brought a major change in Hari’s life. They awakened his conscience and encouraged him to leave his dishonest ways and move towards a better life.
