A Different Kind of School Summary in English
In this story, the writer E.V Lucas describes Miss Beam’s School visit. It was a different kind of school. Miss Beam, middle aged woman, full of authority and kind of plump figure. In her school, students learn simply by spell, mathematical calculations and rest is done by reading and interesting talking. When writer asked about a blind girl, miss beam told him that it is her blind day, for lame child lame day. She told writer that this is a very important part of our system to make children understand misfortune, we make them share in misfortune too. For different students different days are worst like blind is worst, but some children tell miss beam that the dumb day is most difficult. One helper is provided to each participant. One who has gone through particular day can understand that day difficult very well. At last writer discovered that he was ten times more thoughtful than he ever though he could be after this visit.

इस कहानी में, लेखक ई.वी. लुकास ने मिस बीम की स्कूल यात्रा का वर्णन किया है। यह एक अलग तरह का स्कूल था। मिस बीम, मध्यम आयु वर्ग की महिला, अधिकार से भरपूर और मोटे शरीर वाली है। उनके स्कूल में छात्र केवल वर्तनी, गणितीय गणनाओं से सीखते हैं और बाकी काम पढ़ने और दिलचस्प बातचीत से होता है। जब लेखक ने एक अंधी लड़की के बारे में पूछा, तो मिस बीम ने उसे बताया कि यह उसका अंधा दिन है, लंगड़े बच्चे के लिए लंगड़ा दिन। उन्होंने लेखक से कहा कि बच्चों को दुर्भाग्य समझाने के लिए यह हमारी व्यवस्था का बहुत महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है, हम उन्हें दुर्भाग्य में भी भागीदार बनाते हैं। अलग-अलग छात्रों के लिए अलग-अलग दिन सबसे खराब होते हैं जैसे अंधा सबसे खराब दिन होता है, लेकिन कुछ बच्चे मिस बीम से कहते हैं कि गूंगा दिन सबसे कठिन होता है। प्रत्येक प्रतिभागी को एक सहायक उपलब्ध कराया जाता है। जो व्यक्ति किसी विशेष दिन से गुजरा है वह उस दिन को कठिन रूप से अच्छी तरह समझ सकता है। आख़िरकार लेखक को पता चला कि इस यात्रा के बाद वह पहले से दस गुना अधिक विचारशील हो गया था।
