Q.1. Solve the following equations and check your results.
1. 3x = 2x + 18
Solution:
3x = 2x + 18
3x – 2x = 18
x = 18
Hence x = 18 is the required solution.
Checking result
Putting x = 18, we have
LHS
3x = 3 × 18 = 54
RHS
2x + 18 = 2 × 18 + 18 = 54
LHS = RHS

2. 5t – 3 = 3t – 5
Solution:
5t- 3 = 3t – 5
5t – 3t = -5 + 3
2t = -2
t = -2/2
t = -1
Hence t = -1 is required solution.
Checking result
Putting t = -1 , we have

3. 5x +9 = 5 + 3x
Solution:
