Tansen Summary in English
This chapter tells us the story of a great Indian Musician Tansen. Tansen father Mukandan Misra was a singer lived in Behat near Gwalior. He was the only child of his parents. Naughty but talented, he imitated the calls of birds and animals perfectly. Once he tried to frighten a group of travellers by roaring like a tiger. Swami Haridas was the head of this group. He was impressed by tansen. So he took tansen with him. Tansen learnt music from Swami Haridas for eleven years. When he returned his father has died. According to his father’s wish, he stayed with a holy man called Mohammad Ghaus. He married Hussaini, one of the ladies in the court of Rani Mrignaini (a great musician) . Tansen became a favourite in Akbar’s court. Some of the courtiers became jealous of tansen and decided to kill him by Raga Deepak. They asked king that you had to ask for sing Raga Deepak to Tansen because only greatest singer can sing it properly. King asked tansen to sing Raga Deepak. Tansen start prepration for that. Tansen asked his daughter and her friend to sing Raga Megh after Raga Deepak to counteract the effect of the latter. Both Ragas were sung according to plan. Akbar punished Tansen’s enemies. Tansen died in 1585.

यह अध्याय हमें एक महान भारतीय संगीतकार तानसेन की कहानी बताता है। तानसेन के पिता मुकंदन मिश्रा एक गायक थे जो ग्वालियर के पास बेहट में रहते थे। वह अपने माता-पिता की इकलौती संतान थे। शरारती लेकिन प्रतिभाशाली, उसने पक्षियों और जानवरों की आवाजों की बखूबी नकल की। एक बार उसने बाघ की तरह दहाड़कर यात्रियों के एक समूह को डराने की कोशिश की। स्वामी हरिदास इस समूह के मुखिया थे। वह तानसेन से प्रभावित थे। अतः वह तानसेन को अपने साथ ले गये। तानसेन ने ग्यारह वर्षों तक स्वामी हरिदास से संगीत सीखा। जब वह लौटा तो उसके पिता की मृत्यु हो चुकी थी। अपने पिता की इच्छा के अनुसार, वह मोहम्मद गौस नामक एक पवित्र व्यक्ति के साथ रहे। उन्होंने रानी मृगनैनी (एक महान संगीतकार) के दरबार की महिलाओं में से एक हुसैनी से शादी की। तानसेन अकबर के दरबार में पसंदीदा बन गए। कुछ दरबारियों को तानसेन से ईर्ष्या होने लगी और उन्होंने राग दीपक द्वारा उसे मारने का निर्णय लिया। उन्होंने राजा से पूछा कि आपको राग दीपक को तानसेन से गाने के लिए कहना होगा क्योंकि केवल सबसे महान गायक ही इसे सही ढंग से गा सकता है। राजा ने तानसेन से राग दीपक गाने को कहा। तानसेन ने उसके लिए तैयारी शुरू कर दी। तानसेन ने अपनी बेटी और उसकी सहेली को राग दीपक के प्रभाव को कम करने के लिए राग दीपक के बाद राग मेघ गाने के लिए कहा। योजना के अनुसार दोनों राग गाये गये। अकबर ने तानसेन के शत्रुओं को दण्ड दिया। 1585 में तानसेन की मृत्यु हो गई।
