This chapter tells us a story of monkey who saved his life using his brain. A monkey lived in a fruit tree on the bank of a river. He made friends with a crocodile, gave him delicious fruits to eat and sent some for his wife. They met regularly and talked – the monkey in the tree and the crocodile on the ground. The crocodile’s wife was annoyed because her husband came home late. She didn’t like his friendship with the monkey. The crocodile couldn’t altogether ignore his wife’s wishes. Once his wife demanded for monkey’s heart. Monkey can not deny his wife’s wishes. So he agreed to do so. He went to monkey and invited him for a meal. While monkey was riding in the back of crocodile, monkey told him the truth as he can not betray his friend. The monkey was thunderstruck. He knew his life was in danger. He kept his cool and persuaded the crocodile on a pretext to swim back to the tree as he left his heart on the tree. He decided then to discontinue his friendship with the crocodile.

यह अध्याय हमें बंदर की कहानी बताता है जिसने अपने मस्तिष्क का उपयोग करके अपनी जान बचाई। एक नदी के किनारे फलों के पेड़ पर एक बंदर रहता था। उसने एक मगरमच्छ से दोस्ती की, उसे खाने के लिए स्वादिष्ट फल दिए और कुछ अपनी पत्नी के लिए भेजे। वे नियमित रूप से मिलते थे और बातें करते थे – पेड़ पर बंदर और ज़मीन पर मगरमच्छ। मगरमच्छ की पत्नी अपने पति के देर से घर आने से नाराज थी। उसे बंदर से उसकी दोस्ती पसंद नहीं थी। मगरमच्छ अपनी पत्नी की इच्छा को बिल्कुल भी नज़रअंदाज़ नहीं कर सका। एक बार उनकी पत्नी ने बंदर का दिल मांग लिया। बंदर अपनी पत्नी की इच्छा को नकार नहीं सकता। इसलिए वह ऐसा करने के लिए तैयार हो गये। वह बंदर के पास गया और उसे भोजन के लिए आमंत्रित किया। जब बंदर मगरमच्छ की पीठ पर सवार था, तो बंदर ने उसे सच बताया क्योंकि वह अपने दोस्त को धोखा नहीं दे सकता। बंदर पर वज्रपात हुआ। वह जानता था कि उसकी जान खतरे में है। उसने खुद को शांत रखा और मगरमच्छ को पेड़ पर वापस तैरने के बहाने से मना लिया क्योंकि उसने अपना दिल पेड़ पर छोड़ दिया था। फिर उसने मगरमच्छ से अपनी दोस्ती ख़त्म करने का फैसला किया।
